frontend-testing-debugging

Validate a specific rendered frontend flow after a targeted change or during a UI bug investigation.

openai/pluginsplugins/build-web-apps/skills/frontend-testing-debugging/SKILL.md

Before you use it

Input
The exact route or URL, one entry-to-result user flow, expected rendered behavior, repository context and the browser path actually available.
Expected output
A reviewable QA account covering page identity, visible content, relevant console state, one exercised interaction, screenshot evidence and remaining untested risk.
Prerequisites
A reachable application and an authorized browser path are required. The source prefers its Browser plugin when available and otherwise describes a documented Playwright fallback. It does not provide either runtime here, and no browser dependency or application was started during this review.

Client setup and runtime behavior are not verified here; client installation is not individually established. The use notes below describe source preparation, inputs and limits.

Publisher documentation, static file observations and environment tests are different kinds of evidence. Runtime behavior has not been observed.

Use this method

Source-based preparation, not an installation or a completed run. Nothing is executed here.

Good fit for
Rendered frontend debugging or focused visual and interaction QA for an application that can be reached in an approved test environment.
Not for / limits
Not a full cross-browser certification, a replacement for cheap unit tests or permission to install browser tooling. Browser-plugin availability, its APIs and the source's fallback environment were not runtime-tested here.
Prepare
Write one target flow from entry route through the user action to the expected rendered result; keep the requested host exact and record which browser path is actually available.
Apply
Make or inspect the smallest relevant change, then exercise the same flow with page identity, meaningful-content, console, screenshot and state-change checks. Record any fallback reason rather than silently changing tools.
Check
Reload and repeat the failing interaction, adding one mobile viewport for visual work when practical; report clipping, errors and untested flows without promoting a build pass to UI proof.

Study the method

Compare the Browser-first and fallback branches, then trace how the source binds one target flow to page identity, console, screenshot and interaction evidence instead of treating a successful build as rendered QA.

Zero files in scripts/ does not mean no execution, network access or file writes. Markdown and other folders may describe or contain executable behavior.
